About
Me:
Kerry Bestwick, originally from Nottingham, England,
moved to the USA in 1999. As a former competitve cross-country runner
and avid yoga & pilates student back in England I decided to pursue
my full-time career in the mind and body world once I moved to the US.
I longed to share my enthusiasm for living a well balanced life with others.
My goal in life is to help educate and motivate others to lead a balanced
life of health and wellness. Once you have begun the journey of looking
deeper within yourself, you start to truly find inner strength, and that
opens up a whole new light in your world!
I studied intensively for 3 years here in the US, to complete a variety
of fitness certifications and specialty areas as follows:
- Direct learning - Fitness and nutrition diploma
- ACE (American Council of Excercise) Group fitness
instructor - Philadelphia, Pa
- ACE Personal training instructor- Philadelphia,
Pa
- Pilates Mat Certification - Physical Mind Institute,
Philadelphia, Pa
- Pilates Reformer Certification (group &
private clients) - Powerhouse Pilates, Pittsburgh, Pa
- Yogilates Certification - New York (combining
Hatha & power yoga with pilates)
- Yogafit Kids - Home study
- Spinning Certified (Mad Dog Athletics) - Pittsburgh,
Pa
- CPR Certified - Yearly w/ American Red Cross
- Body Bar - Home study
- Pilates & Golfers - Santa Clara, Ca
- Pilates & Scoliosis - Santa Clara, Ca
- Pilates Mini Ball - Santa Clara, Ca
- Pilates & Physical Therapy/Rehab - Santa
Clara, Ca
I attend Mind & Body conventions yearly to keep
current on all new developments in this growing field. Continuing education
is very important to me. My goal is to educate myself and to share my
knowledge with others. My Passion is Pilates and Yoga, I live the lifestyle
and teach from my heart, and with all my soul!
I have also presented workshops on Pilates to specific professional groups
on the method and how to best integrate some of the principles and movements
from Pilates and Yoga into there own unique practices. Some of the groups
include physical therapists, student massage therapists, student physical
trainers, rehabilitation therapists, and school teachers.
I still run five days per week. The freedom I get from the outdoors gives
me the energy and zest to continue my day. I compete in local charity
and fund raising 5 & 10K's. I have completed two half marathons in
the UK for breast cancer, and my goal is to someday run a full marathon!
I am married to my husband, Jamie, who is a professional cyclist. We have
two British bulldogs, Lucy and George. Wecurrently live in State College,
Pennsylvania.
In this fast paced, constantly moving world, practicing Yoga allows us
to pause time and just be! Be aware of who you are and how you feel. We
can all find time to connect and allow the body and mind to be still.
Let go of distractions, fear, and worry from the outside world, and explore
the peace and calm awaiting inside your sacred mind. — Kerry |
