Team Training:
Pilates and Yoga - The new way to strenghthen the
core, stretch the body, and focus the breath and mind.
By incorporating variety into team training routines the athlete truly
can get a more complete training. We all tend to focus on the cardiovascular
of running, cycling, swimming, and the importance of strength training
to keep us strong and lean. But what about completing the picture? The
core is no longer limited to crunches and leg raises, and stretching is
not simply a 5-10 minute sequence we painfully endure after weights or
running.
The breath is truly the key to life and by learning how to utilize the
breath effectively we can become stronger in physical activities we participate
or compete in. The most important area we often neglect is the mental
focus and how important correct breathing can be in high pressure, high
stress situations, particularly for competitive athletes. Without the
skill of controlling the mind, some athletes crumble under these high
stress circumstances.
That is where yoga and pilates comes in. Theese exercise forms complete
a full, well-rounded team training program, not just physically but mentally.
Many athletes can rise to the physical challenges they face but the mental
hurdles are a different story.By incorporating the mind and body aspects
into team training, you can truly get the full picture. Allow the team
to be educated on how to meditate, use visualization and inner strength
to deepen focus through those mental challenges, and simplify the competitiveness
of their sport.
Group Pilates and Yoga is ideal for off season training and for team building
situations too. For more information
